Attic Restoration and Duct Replacement in 1400 Sq. Ft. Home - Air-Sealing and Insulation Replacement in Kerman, CA

Tyson had performed an attic restoration at Henry's home in Fresno and he was so happy with the work we did, he decided to have us do an attic restoration at his mother's house in Kerman too. We went out and inspected her attic and found that she only had about 7 inches of insulation present, with dozens of air leakage points. The ducts in her attic were also broken and disintegrating, allowing contaminated air to enter her home through her HVAC system. Henry wanted his mother to enjoy a more comfortable temperature in her home while also reducing her heating and cooling costs.

These are the steps we took to execute the attic restoration in the home:

1) we vacuumed out the old insulation and removed the debris from the attic.

2) we cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to eliminate irritants, contaminants, and odors

3) we air-sealed the attic floor to eliminate air leakage points. This included top plates, recessed lights, registers, and plumbing and wiring penetrations.

4) we installed rodent-proof barriers at potential entry points to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic.

5) we blew in premium fiberglass insulation to an R38 level, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended level for our climate here in the Fresno area.

6) we replaced the broken, disintegrating ducts with new, R6 flex ducts.

As a result of the comprehensive work we did for Henry's mother, she will enjoy the following benefits for as long as she lives in the home:

1) a cool, comfortable home during summer and a warm, cozy home during winter

2) reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%

3) better indoor air quality

4) high resale value of her home should she ever decide to sell it

Full Attic Restoration with Air-Sealing in 2700 Sq. Ft. Country Home in Madera, CA

Michael contacted us because he wanted to prepare his home for the upcoming summer months, anticipating the extreme heat of the Central Valley. Because of the rising costs of cooling his home in the summers, he wanted to ensure that his house was as energy-efficient as possible. When we inspected his attic, we found that he only had about 7-8 inches of old, dirty insulation -- well below the Energy Star-recommended 14 inches. We also saw evidence of rodent activity in his attic, which further contaminated the space. Given that he wanted his home as efficient as possible for summer, we determined that a complete attic restoration was in order.

We began the process by removing all of the old, contaminated insulation and disposing of it. We then cleaned and sanitized the entire attic using DSV sanitizer. Once the attic was fully cleaned, we used closed-cell foam to seal off air leakage points. This helps reduce the ability of air to transfer between the attic and the living spaces of the home. We also installed rodent-proof barriers to prevent rodents and other pests from entering the attic again. Lastly, we blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a depth of 14 inches, bringing the home up to recommended standards.

As a result of our comprehensive attic restoration process, Michael and his family will experience reduced heating and cooling bills by up to 30% year-round. They will also enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home in the summers, a warmer home in the winters, and better indoor air quality since contaminants and irritants won't be freely flowing from the attic into the home.

R49 Insulation Upgrade with Blown In Fiberglass Insulation - from 6 Inches to 16 Inches

Lori reached out to us because she was searching for a solution to her high cooling costs. Because her home felt uncomfortably warm during the extreme Central Valley summers, Lori felt like she had no other solution than to run her air conditioner constantly. She said that she felt her home wasn't retaining the cool air, so her AC was turning on and off frequently throughout the day. We conducted an attic audit in her home and found that her insulation was low with only about 6 inches present. Lori decided to have us perform an insulation upgrade and add an additional 10 inches of insulation to bring her attic to an R49 level.

The job was only about 2 hours altogether. We expertly placed attic markers around the attic to ensure that we could accurately measure the amount of insulation to add. We then blew in an additional 10 inches of fiberglass insulation.

After the insulation upgrade, Lori and her family now enjoy a cooler home temperature during the summer months. Her home will also be warm and cozy during the winter, and her monthly heating and cooling costs will be lower by up to 30% for as long as she resides there.

Insulation Upgrade to R38 with Blown In Fiberglass in 1800 Sq. Ft. One-Story Home in Madera, CA

Adrian contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because his home was hot and uncomfortable and he knew the issue wasn't his air conditioner. He was frustrated with his home's discomfort and the fact that his cooling costs were so high. When we inspected his attic, we discovered that the problem was his insulation. He only had about 5 inches present, well below the R38 level recommended by Energy Star. We determined that an insulation upgrade was the best option for him to improve the comfort of his home and reduce his cooling costs.

We began by air-sealing visible leakage points with closed-cell foam. This helps to prevent air from flowing between the attic and the living spaces of the home, thus keeping the conditioned air inside of the home. We then blew in premium, fiberglass insulation to a level of R38, or 14 inches.

As a result of the insulation upgrade we performed, not only will his home be more cool and comfortable during the summers, but it will also be warmer during winter and his cooling and heating bills will be lowered by up to 30% for as long as he lives in that home.
