Attic Restoration, New Attic Access Installation, and Gable Vent Re-Screening in Tulare, CA

The homeowner contacted us because her home was unbearably hot during a particularly bad Central Valley heat wave and her cooling bills were out of control. She specifically complained that her air conditioner was running constantly, but was not able to adequately cool her home. We inspected her attic and found that her insulation was very low, only about 5-6 inches. In addition, her gable vent needed to be re-screened as it was not allowing properly ventilation in the attic which was a major contributing factor to her ait conditioner not being able to function effectively.

To remedy this, we determined that we needed to do a full attic restoration. We extracted and disposed of the old insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer. This is a concentrated disinfectant, cleaner, mildewstat, fungicide, and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Once we had a clean area to work with, we pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers. By sealing the attic, air is prevented from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space. We also re-screened her gable vent to allow proper ventilation.

We installed a new attic access because the old access was broken and therefore dangerous. It also allowed too much air to leak into the living spaces of the home.

Lastly, we increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation.

As a result of this comprehensive attic restoration, this homeowner will enjoy a more comfortable home, lower heating and cooling bills year-round, and better indoor air quality for as long as she lives in the home.

Attic Restoration and Installation of Blown In Fiberglass Insulation in 1200 Sq. Ft. Home in Tulare, CA

Mollie contacted Tyson Energy Solutions because her home was unable to keep the cool air produced by her air conditioner in the house. She suspected that it was leaking out of the house because her HVAC system was constantly running and yet, always felt hot. She was looking to reduce her cooling costs while also making her home feel more comfortable. When we inspected her attic, we found that she only had about 3-4 inches of insulation present. We determined that an attic restoration was the best option for her to achieve her objectives.

We started off by removing all of the old, dirty insulation from the attic. Once the attic was bare, we cleaned and sanitized the attic using DSV sanitizer to eliminate contaminants and irritants. Once the attic had been sanitized, we meticulously air-sealed the attic using closed-cell foam in order to prevent air from traveling between the attic and the living spaces of the home. This included all top plates, registers, recessed lights, and wiring and plumbing penetrations. The last step was blowing in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic to the Energy Star-recommended R38 level.

As a result of the comprehensive attic restoration that we performed, Mollie and her family will enjoy a cooler, more comfortable home during summers, warmer temperatures in winter, reduced heating and cooling costs by up to 50%, and better indoor air quality for as long as they live in the house.

Attic Restoration - Full Extraction of Old Insulation, Air Sealing, Sanitizing, and Blown-In Fiberglass Insulation in Kingsburg, CA

The homeowner contacted us because her home felt incredibly hot, which caused her to run her air conditioner constantly, leading to high cooling costs. We came out and inspected her attic and found the cause: there was only about 3 inches of dirty insulation in her attic, as well as a lot of debris. There was also evidence of rodent activity in the attic. When we showed the pictures to the homeowner, she decided to do a full attic restoration.

We performed the attic restoration by extracting and disposing of the old, cellulose insulation. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using Nisus DSV sanitizer, which is a concentrated disinfectant and sanitizer that kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria, and fungi. We then pinpointed all areas where air leakage could occur -- top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, and registers -- and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. By sealing the attic, air is prevented from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. We also installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

Once the attic had been cleaned and air-sealed, we blew in 14 inches of premium, fiberglass insulation, bringing the attic up to the Energy Star recommended R38 level.

As a result of our attic restoration, not only will the homeowner and her family experience a more comfortable home, but better indoor air quality and lower heating and cooling bills for the life of the home.

R38 Insulation Upgrade with Blown In Fiberglass Insulation in One Story Home in Kingsburg, CA

The homeowner called Tyson Energy Solutions because even though he had a whole house fan, but he still felt his home was hot during the summer months. We inspected his attic and found that his insulation was lacking; he only had about 8 inches, well below the Energy Star recommended 14 inches. Knowing that the hottest parts of the summer were upcoming, we decided to perform an insulation upgrade to protect his home from the extreme summer heat of the Central Valley.

We increased the level of insulation in the attic by blowing in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a depth of 14 inches. We also sealed holes, gaps, and cracks in the attic to prevent air from leaking between the attic and the living spaces of the home.

As a result of the insulation upgrade, this homeowner and his family can now enjoy a more comfortable home and lower heating and cooling costs year-round for as long as they live in their home.

Attic Restoration - Removal of Old Insulation, Air Sealing, and Blow In of Fiberglass Insulation in Kingsburg, CA

This homeowner reached out to us because the living room and dining room spaces of her home were very hot and uncomfortable. She also complained that those areas of the home got very dusty and were just generally unpleasant to be in. When we inspected her attic, we found that there was virtually no insulation in those areas of the attic, maybe an inch or so, with plenty of debris and evidence of rodent activity. Once we explained how this was the cause of the temperature discomfort in the areas of the home, as well as the dustiness, we decided that an attic restoration was the correct remedy for these issues.

We began by extracting and disposing of the old insulation and debris that littered the attic. We then cleaned and sanitized the attic using  a concentrated disinfectant and sanitizer. We then identified all areas where air leakage could occur and sealed those areas with closed-cell foam. This included all top plates, wire and plumbing penetrations, registers, and can lights. Sealing the attic prevents air from flowing between the attic and the home's living spaces. Additionally, we installed barriers at any potential rodent entry points to prevent them from accessing the attic. We then cleared the soffit vents to ensure improved ventilation of the attic space.

Once the attic was clean and sealed, we blew in premium, Johns Manville fiberglass insulation to a height of 14 inches. This provided the Energy Star recommended R38 level of insulation.

As a result of the work we did in the attic, this homeowner and her family noticed an immediate difference in the dustiness and air quality in their home. They will also enjoy a more comfortable home and lower heating and cooling bills for as long as they remain in that house.
