This Pittsfield, MA homeowner reached out to us because her home was uncomfortable. It was cold inside and she could feel drafts. A problem we discovered when one of our Home Comfort Specialists was conducting her free Home Energy Evaluation, was that her can lights weren't properly insulated. When it comes to making homes more comfortable, stopping air leakage at the top of the house is the #1 priority. Can lights are holes in the ceiling that leak air between the fixture itself, due to the many holes and seams in it. To combat this problem, Fogarty's Home Services installed TiteShell™ can light covers over the homeowner's can lights. We fitted them around wires and fixture struts, and sealed air tight with expanding foam. TiteShell™ covers are safe from the fire hazards of hot bulbs and fixtures. Once TiteShells™ are installed, the attic is now ready for TruSoft™ insulation to be blown into the attic. Now our happy customer will feel less drafts, a more energy efficient house, a more comfortable temperature in her home, and lower energy costs. We Fix Uncomfortable Homes!

This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us regarding concerns he had about the insulation in his home. When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived at the home, he noted that the entire ceiling of the basement was covered in fiberglass batts that were crumbling and falling.
Our solution for this homeowner was simple. We used our two-part expanding spray foam to seal and insulate their rim joist. For this homeowner, the rest of the ceiling was not necessary to insulate so long as the rim joist was properly insulated. Now, the homeowner will have lower energy bills and a more comfortable home as a result!
This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us when he moved into his home. He was hoping to catch any potential issues with home comfort before they actually became an issue.
When our Home Comfort Specialist arrived at the home, he noted that this homeowner had blown-in fiberglass insulation. Fiberglass is ineffective -- it does not stop air flow. It is both mold food and perfect nesting material for rodents. So, the homeowner wanted it removed. We vacuumed it out and disposed of it. We were then able to completely air seal the attic, and installed baffles in each rafter bay to keep the soffit vents clear. Then, we utilized our TruSoft™ blown in cellulose. TruSoft™ is 85% recycled material that mold doesn't grow on. Pests don't like to nest in it due to the chemicals it is treated with. This new insulation will keep this homeowner's home comfortable for years to come!
This homeowner in Pittsfield, MA called us originally for a mold removal problem. But when our Home Comfort Specialist arrived in the home, he noticed that the basement had insufficient insulation. Insufficient or nonexistent insulation can cause issues with condensation forming -- which can cause a mold issue.
We first had to remove the insufficient insulation in the rim joist. The "rim joist" is the perimeter of the floor framing system along the exterior of the house.
We then were able to insulate the rim joist using our two part expanding spray foam. This fills all the cracks and gaps. Now, the home will be more comfortable!
