This homeowner in Marlborough, MA called us out to their home to update their insulation and increase their energy efficiency. We noticed they had very small amount of insulation in the rim joists, and it was old, inefficient fiberglass. Along the rim joists around the perimeter of the home in the basement, a lot of air is able to escape out of and enter the home. Since the cold, concrete walls of the basement are buried in the ground they tend to be about 17° cooler than than your home should be. In the summer this allows warm, humid air into your basement, hitting the cold concrete walls. This will cause condensation, supporting mold. Since they only had a small amount of old insulation, there was barley anything stopping these concerns.
We got right to the home, prepped and protected the customers belongings and got to work. First,we install our Foamax insulation boards along the concrete walls. Now, we install our spray foam insulation around the perimeter of the home on the rim joist. Since it expands, it fills in all gaps, cracks and joints air was able to leak into the home before.
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver, these homeowners are more comfortable, happy, and more energy efficient in their homes!
This homeowner in Mansfield, CT called us out to their home for a Home energy evaluation because their home was drafty, they had cold floors, and high energy bills. We noticed along the rim joists around the perimeter of the home in the basement a lot of air is able to escape. The cold concrete walls of the basement are buried in the ground; they tend to be 17° cooler than your home should be. We also found moldy inefficient insulation in the basement!
This homeowner in Mansfield, CT called us out to their home for a Home Energy Evaluation, because their home was drafty, they had cold floors and high energy bills. We noticed there was old dirty, and inefficient fiberglass Insulation in the attic. We also noticed there was air leaks at the top of the home because the attic was poorly insulated. This homeowner had can lights where the lights are installed into the ceiling and air can leak out.
We took, removed and disposed of the old ineffective insulation, we bagged it up and vacuumed the attic. Now that the attics clean, we properly air sealed it. We sealed around holes, gaps and joints between drywall and framing at the top of walls, around pipes, wires, and duct work. We installed can light covers, fitted around wires and fixture struts and air sealed tight with expanding foam. The covers protect the home from fire hazards from hot bulbs and fixtures. We then installed our blown- in Trusoft Cellulose insulation. This will fill in all odd-shaped gaps and voids in the attic!
Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver this home is more comfortable and energy efficient!
When our Newington, CT customer called Fogarty's Home Services to report cold temperatures and drafts in her home, we were happy to help. One of the solutions we provided our to our customer was air sealing and insulating the interior wall that is exposed to the hot & cold hostile temperatures in her attic. Fogarty's Home Services installed SilverGlo™, an expanded polystyrene foam insulation board with graphite infused into the foam, on that interior wall. This gives it a 24% higher insulation value per inch than standard EPS foam. It also has a shiny radiant barrier to reflect heat as well, so the insulation isn't doing all the work itself. Now our happy customer will feel the results - more comfortable rooms that are easier to heat and cool, and lower energy bills. "We Fix Uncomfortable Homes!"
