The animal had torn off sections of the sheathing from the inside, leading to a leak. While the homeowner attempted an interior fix, they needed a professional assessment and repair from the outside. For the repair, we replaced the back slope using IKO Frostone Grey shingles, with the homeowner understanding that it would not match the front slope. To ensure long-term durability and protection, we applied an ice and water membrane according to KRS specifications—6 feet at eaves wrapped onto the fascia, 18 inches on either side of valleys, and around all roof penetrations. We also installed KRS Velora 1 Synthetic Underlayment on all decking areas without ice and water barriers, providing a tear-resistant, water-repelling layer. To further reinforce the roof, we added brown F-8 aluminum drip edge flashing along all eaves, sealing it with 4-inch modified Bitumen tape to prevent water backup in the event of ice dams. With these repairs, the homeowner can rest assured that their roof is now properly sealed and protected from further damage.
