Our customer had bats in his attic. Once the bats were all removed we went in and cleaned the attic. Removal of all insulation and new cellulose added once this attic was cleaned.
Removal of batt insulation and cleaning the mold to prepare for air seal and new cellulose insulation. Once that was completed we added R60 or 17" of new TruSoft Cellulose insulation.
The dormer is under insulated and can also serve as storage if correctly done. We used SiverGlo foam board to insulate. We also built a new floor for our customer to have additional storage.
Mold was found all over the roof sheathing trusses and insulation. The upstairs was around 10 degrees cooler than downstairs during our inspection in the winter. The problem was caused by high humidity in the attic being caused by lack of ventilation coming from the soffits as they blocked with insulation.
The homeowner explained that they have been having problems with ice dams in one of the bedrooms of the home and that all of the bedrooms were cold during the winter months and hot during the summer.
