Steven Spaltro, a long time resident of Middletown,NJ, joined the Cowleys family in April 2022 as one of our Pest Control Technicians. Steven has been in the pest control industry for over 6 years and wanted to work at a more family-run company. He is a licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator and has a number of Category certifications including the Core certification, 7A for general and household pest control, 7B certification for termites & other wood-destroying insects, the DEP’s category 13 certification that addresses the use of specialized Integrated Pest Management (IPM) concepts in schools, 8A for general public health, 8B for mosquito control, and 3A for ornamental pest control.

In his spare time, Steven loves to play soccer with his family, relax at the beach, or enjoy a refreshing beverage by the pool!

There was also an opening on the side of the crawl space vent too. We informed the owner and he mentioned that, once the mice are gone, he's going to hire a contractor to replace the vent and seal that opening.
After a thorough inspection of the exterior and the crawl space, we noticed that the foundation vent grates had large openings in it with no screening.
Continuing our inspection, we found another burrow on the other side of the building by the downspout and another one a few feet away.
As we began inspecting the exterior of the home, we came across a trail of ants on the side of the home. So we followed their trail...
The termite colonies send their "explorers", also referred to as swarmers, in search of a hospitable building. Unlike other termites in a colony, swarmers are attracted to light. For this reason, these termites are often found on the inside of windows in a structure that has an active infestation. They want to be outside in the bright sun, not inside the dim interior of a home or business. Termite swarmers also shed their wings during the mating process.
Apparently, the previous owner wasn't too keen on sanitation as almost ever area in the kitchen was loaded with grease and food debris. This lead to a hefty cockroach infestation!
To eliminate them, we injected a knockdown dusting application directly into the opening of their nest. After several moments, we also injected a knockdown liquid application. These treatments will exterminate the bald-faced hornets almost immediately.
As we were drilling, we made sure to space the holes about 15-18 inches apart from one another. This ensures that the termiticide has room to spread out and increases the chance that the termites will walk through the application.
