Barb Cowley is our accounts receivable supervisor. Originally from upstate New York, Barb now considers herself a “Jersey girl” through and through. She appreciates the milder climate and being a stone’s throw from the Jersey Shore beaches. She has helped her husband Bill and her brother-in-law Drew grow Cowleys since its founding. Barb has a natural enthusiasm for what she does and enjoys working with an amazing office staff to keep everything running smoothly so that the service technicians can do what they do best out in the field.
Her primary responsibility as receivable supervisor is to diplomatically resolve payment issues and keep the cash flow flowing to meet payroll and all of the expenses for operating a business. More often than not, a late payment is mere customer oversight, but there are times when it can take a bit of detective work to resolve. And that’s where Barb shines. She is detail-oriented with an amazing memory, able to rattle off the status of almost any account off the top of her head. There is rarely a need to print out an aged receivable summary. Whenever a receivable issue arises, two words are usually enough to get an answer: “Ask Barb!”
Barb is an avid reader and life-long learner who keeps a close eye on politics and current events. She has a BA in History from College of the Holy Cross in Worchester. She loves kids and worked as a preschool teacher at Seashore Country Day in Long Branch. Barb has acquired significant business experience over the years working at Cowleys, and prior to that, helping to operate a successful footwear franchise.
Although she loves her work, her four children are her pride and joy. Two of them, Drew and Rhett, are now working at Cowleys. For her, there is no better bonus than seeing her kids every day contributing to the business. When not at work, she enjoys the company of her family whether it's reading, walking the dog, or hiking, biking, or some other outdoor activity to keep fit and healthy. During the summer, the Cowleys spend as much time as they can at the Jersey Shore beaches taking in the sun and surf. The Cowleys children are all active in athletics, and she enjoys supporting their endeavors both on and off the field.
