Jim Regan, one of our most senior pest control technicians, has been with Cowleys since 2004. He has over 15 years of experience in the pest control field. Jim is a licensed Commercial Pesticide Applicator. In addition to his Core certification, he holds two pest control category certifications: 7A for general and household pest control, 7B certification for termites & other wood-destroying insects, Category 13 certification for school Integrated Pest Management, 7D certification for the use of applications in and around food manufacturing, packaging and processing facilities, 8E certification for the use of root control agents in sewer lines, and 8B for mosquito control. He is also a Certified Sentricon® Termite Baiting System Specialist, and has studied bed bug treatment protocols with Bed Bug University, the educational arm of Bed Bug Central. In 2021 Jim earned his ACE license!
Jim is our residential/commercial technician who specializes in treating bed bugs, and is the field supervisor for our bed bug projects. Bed bugs are considered, by far, to be one of the most challenging pest infestations. They hide well, reproduce quickly, and the egg stage is resistant to many forms of treatment. Treating bed bugs takes an eye for detail, dogged persistence, and leadership and organizational skills because any successful strategy requires that the occupants of the infested structure cooperate and do their part.
He has dealt with some of the heaviest bed bug infestations in New Jersey that would have sent less experienced technicians running for the hills. He has faced entrenched, widespread infestations in homes, apartment units with bed bugs numbering in the thousands.
Why would a technician want to specialize in these blood-sucking pests? For Jim, bed bug infestations are an intricate puzzle. To successfully resolve thee infestations, you must constantly looking for new evidence, and assume nothing, checking and rechecking your work. Challenges pop out of nowhere and once you think you've see it all, you'll see something new.
Jim is dependable and conscientious, taking every assignment personally, understanding the stress and anxiety faced by those dealing with these biting parasites. He is a perfectionist who consistently delivers his best day after day, and the newer technicians often seek his advice when unusual issues in the field arise. He is always there to help others, no matter how busy he is, and he has been instrumental in helping Cowleys deliver the best possible customer service. Jim is exceptionally easy-going, approachable, and confident. Customers just know they are in good hands once he is on scene.
In 2022, Jim was promoted to our Technical Onboarding & Quality Control Specialist.
In his spare time, Jim is also an avid musician who loves to play the drums and guitar (although talented, not simultaneously!) and he even writes his own music. He also stays active with recreational sports, especially basketball and softball. On most weekends, once the temperatures warm, you’ll find him cruising on his motorcycle, exploring the New Jersey countryside, attending many of the town’s summer fairs and festivals.
