This Johnson City, NY homeowner called us for a Home Comfort Evaluation to see what may be done to his home for insulation, as he guessed that the entire first floor of his home had no insulation in the walls. Our assessment showed that the homeowner was correct. We proposed to dense pack the walls with our TruSoft cellulose and insulate the attic space as well.
We first air sealed the attic space by sealing top plates, rim joists and around light fixtures. We then sprayed 2 inches of our closed cell spray foam to the walls of the foundation, then sprayed 3 inches of our closed cell spray foam on the roof deck in the attic.
The end result was a much less drafty and leaky home in terms of air escaping. The homeowner will also see cheaper heating and cooling bills.
This Johnson City, NY homeowner was suffering from very cold winters and unbearably hot summers inside her home. Our Home Comfort Evaluation showed that there was no insulation in the attic space of this home, and the basement was also another problematic area for this customer, as the air she was paying to cool in the summer and heat through the winter was simply escaping from the home.
We proposed to air seal the attic, and then our crew installed Tyvek slopes to the attic ceiling. Behind the Tyvek, we dense packed our TruSoft cellulose insulation to provide adequate insulation to the attic to stop air leaking from the attic of the home.

To remedy this issue for the homeowner, the crew used 2 inches of our Closed Cell spray foam in the rim joists to stop air from leaking in to the crawl space causing further humidity. We also installed our 6 mil poly to the floor of the crawl space as a vapor barrier, the vapor barrier was spray foamed to the foundation walls to ensure it won't fall down. 2 inches of our Closed Cell spray foam to the foundation walls. We also installed a dehumidifier as well as a condensate pump in this crawl space to help alleviate the humidity.

For this customer, she has Bilco doors that had no other door in order to access her basement, which left her with a large gap in her thermal envelope of her home. We ordered a custom sized door to fit the opening, effectively keeping the basement from leaking air in.
