The giant crawlspace was defiantly a challenge, but our guys took it on and it came out beautifully. The homeowners were experiencing musty odors and even mold growth in the home above. They knew they had to do something in order to stop it from progressing. In order to accomplish this we installed our patented CleanSpace 20 mil vapor barrier, and drainage matting as well as applying 2 inches of closed cell insulation to the foundation walls to seal them and eliminate moisture. We also installed a custom made steel entry door specifically sized to fit this crawlspace access. The result is a cleaner, dryer, more comfortable and much more efficient home!
This homeowner in East Stroudsburg, PA had Large 3000sf vented crawlspace with 1'' of foam on the block walls. The floor was thin concrete over dirt. Also in the crawlspce was the main boiler which ran their hot water baseboard heat, plus a 50 gallon water heater.
The family started noticing the moldy smells in their closets to the extent they could no longer store clothes and shoes there in the summer.
Using our patented drainage matting, 20 mil Cleanspace, closed cell spray foam to seal the walls and add R-value. Furthermore we sealed the vents and installed a new insulated steel entry door. We also added direct fresh air to the boiler. Now that we created a sealed, insulated space. We conditioned it with a Sanidry CX dehumidifier.
The home owner said it is so much more comfortable and there are no more musty smells!
Now that all the hot water heat pipes are in a conditioned area the boiler runs a lot less and the home is dry and healthy!
We received a phone call from Joanna who was looking for ways to save money and make her home more comfortable. We suggested completing a full home energy assessment so we could get a better understanding on what is going on throughout the home. Although her home was only about 10 years old, we were able to see area's that could be greatly improvement. One of these area's was the upstairs ceiling (attic floor). We were able to see large air leaks and missing insulation during the energy assessment with our thermal camera. We suggested air sealing and insulating the attic with our TruSoft cellulose insulation. The homeowner still wanted to be able to store items in the attic so we created a 10 x 10 fully insulated storage area. We also built dams to hold back the cellulose and keep the attic nice and clean. We also spray insulated the basement and installed our patented CleanSpace Crawlspace Encapsulation system in the crawlspace under the home. Now the house is more comfortable, more energy efficient and ready for the coldest winters and hottest summer!
Recently, Dr. Energy Saver was able to work with another contractor to help solve a homeowners home comfort issues. This crawlspace was typical - with all the nasty stuff including mold, rot and odors. We installed our patented CleanSpace Crawlspace Encapsulation System, sealed and insulated the foundation with 2 inches of closed cell polyurethane insulation, and installed the SaniDry Sedona - our energy efficient dehumidifier. Now this home is healthier and much more energy efficient!
Another nasty, inefficient attic transformed. All the old insulation was removed and the attic was air sealed. We then installed an insulated storage deck, sealed the whole house fan and blew in 16" of clean TruSoft cellulose to achieve an R60! Now this home has another 600 square feet of usable storage and is far more efficient. This project will pay for itself in just a few years.
