Making a Den Warmer in Enfield, CT

These homeowners in Enfield, CT had issues keeping their home, primarily the den, warm in the winter. There were old batts of fiberglass insulation that at one point were installed into the ceiling of the crawlspace, but were now falling off, letting cold air up into the home.

We started off by clearing out this old insulation. With the space cleared, we sealed off the rim joist, otherwise know as the perimeter of the floor framing of the house, to stop cold air from creeping in. We installed our SilverGlo graphite infused foam board onto the walls to insulate the crawlspace to keep heat in during the winter. We then got to work on the dirt floor of the crawlspace. We laid down our dimpled drainage to create an airspace and thermal break. Then we put down our TerraBlock floor insulation, and finalize our sealing off the crawlspace with our vapor barrier liner to keep moisture from getting into the crawlspace and creating any mold issues.

Updating Old Inefficient Windows in Enfield, CT

This homeowner in Enfield, CT was having issues with drafts in their home. Old metal framed, single pane windows allow the heat from inside the home escape both through the glass and the thermally conductive metal. A lot of air is also able to leak into the home.

We removed the old windows and installed our Everlast high efficiency vinyl window inserts. The windows feature two panes of high efficiency glass that allows light in without letting heat to escape. The vinyl on these windows will not rust, rot or need paint, making it perfect for the damp environment outside of the window!

Making a Home More Energy Efficient in Enfield, CT

This homeowner in Enfield, CT called us out to their home to update the insulation in the home they just moved into. We noticed they had no insulation in their basement! Along the rim joists around the perimeter of the home in the basement, a lot of air is able to escape out of and enter the home. Since the cold, concrete walls of the basement are buried in the ground they tend to be about 17° cooler than than your home should be. In the summer this allows warm, humid air into your basement, hitting the cold concrete walls. This will cause condensation, supporting mold, which can be dangerous!

We knew we had to help this homeowner! First we prep the home and protect any personal belongs from during our work! Next, we get right to it! We install our spray foam insulation along the perimeter of the home on the rim joist. Spray foam expands to fill all cracks and joints where air was previously able to escape or enter the home!

Thanks to Dr. Energy Saver, these homeowners are more comfortable, happy, and more energy efficient in their homes!

Making A Home More Energy Efficient In Enfield, CT

These Homeowners in Enfield, CT called us to their home because of drafty rooms. During our energy evaluation, we noticed that the insulation in their attic was old and inefficient. We also noticed many air leaks.

First we removed all of the old fiberglass insulation and properly disposed of the materials.  We then vacuumed the attic and cleaned up any loose pieces of old materials. Next we installed our Super Attic treatment! This treatment uses EPS foam board on the rafters making sure to air seal in between each piece of Silverglo EPS foam board. This creates a thermal barrier to the attic ceiling. Once we do this we go around the attic making sure every crack is air sealed to make sure the attic is air tight.
