These clients had just bought a new home and knew that the insulation was pretty dated. They wanted to have a company come out and see what kind of solutions they could offer for their attic. They found Complete Home Solutions' number and called us up to come out.
Our home comfort specialist evaluated the house and advised them that installing some new insulation would certainly be a benefit, but they would also need air sealing if they wanted the insulation to work effectively. Air can still move through insulation if there is nothing blocking it. By doing this, we were able to create a thermal barrier for the conditioned space, which means a more comfortable home for this family.
Jessica bought her home last year and called Complete Home Solutions to determine the cause of the cold floors throughout the first level of the home, as well as an odor that seemed to get worse when it rained. Our Home Comfort Specialist conducted a full inspection of the home to determine any areas of concern that could be resulting in uncomfortable temperatures. Following the inspection, the Specialist determined that the main source of any uncomfortable temperatures were coming from a crawl space that was in bad shape. The recommendation made was to fully encapsulate the crawl space to create an area isolated from the earth and outside elements. On the day of the encapsulation, our Home Comfort Technicians began by removing the old vapor barrier and insulation from the crawl space., this provided an empty area to begin the transformation. They then installed our Clean space vapor barrier which when bolted to the walls of the crawl space creates a seal that prevents any moisture or pest from entering the crawl from below. Following the installation of the vapor barrier, our Technicians used a 2 part closed cell spray foam to insulate and seal the walls. This process restricts any air from coming through the vents or cinder blocks in the crawl. The final step of this encapsulation is to install a dehumidifier that regulates the humidity to a consistent 50-55%.
Following the work, Jessica could not be happier with the look or performance of her new crawl space and has already noticed a difference in the temperature of her home.

This homeowner living in Pomfret, Maryland was losing a lot of money every month to their utility bills. They were tired of throwing money away and decided to call Complete Home Solutions to find out how to make their house more efficient.
An energy audit lead pointed to the attic as the main source for energy loss. There was very little insulation and no air sealing. We sealed all around the the attic flooring to close up any gaps or cracks that were letting air escape. We then installed several inches of blown-in cellulose insulation. This homeowner now spends significantly less money every month!
This homeowner had an unfinished basement that he was looking to work on. Before he started anything, he wanted to make sure that his walls were insulated right (you definitely don't want to wait until you've dry walled to realize your basement is too cold). Complete Home Solutions came out to check it out. As you can see, there was insulation in the walls, but there was no air sealing. When you have just insulation you're not actually stopping the cold air from coming in. To do this we needed to take out that BATT insulation and apply our closed cell spray foam (which air seals and insulates at the same time). Now this basement is ready to rock n' roll for whatever plans the homeowner has for it.
