Crawl Space Air Sealed in Annapolis, MD

This homeowner had a crawl space underneath his house that was very poorly treated. What did this mean for him? Cold rooms, higher electric bills, and poor indoor air quality. He called out our home comfort specialist to provide some solutions on how to help with this situation.

Based on our home visit, we determined that the most effective way to treat this crawl space was to install a vapor barrier and air seal the walls with closed cell spray foam. These measures would stop undesirable air from leaking into the living area (which is what was ultimately causing those issues listed before). This homeowner can now enjoy healthy, happy, and comfortable living in their home.

Attic Air Sealed in Annapolis, MD

This client was having a hard time keeping her house at a comfortable temperature. Heating it up in the winter and cooling it down in the summer was costing her a lot of money -- and it still wasn't working that well. She got into contact with Complete Home Solutions to find the solution to her problem.

Our Home Comfort Specialist found the attic to be the source of much of this discomfort. Although there was some insulation (that looked a little worn), this attic really needed air sealing. This involved air sealing along the attic floor as well as sealing the duct work. Exposed duct work makes it really hard for homeowners to keep their house at a steady temperature since the air traveling through the ducts is being heated/cooled as it goes. We also added more blown in cellulose insulation to enhance the effectiveness of the air sealing.

The improvements that we made for this homeowner have created a more comfortable and energy efficient home.

Attic Insulation in Annapolis, MD

This homeowner felt that their upper floor had a significantly different temperature than the lower floor. They contacted Complete Home Solutions to diagnose what the problem might be. Our Home Comfort Specialist informed the homeowner that the very low level of blown-in fiberglass insulation was not providing an R-value needed to properly insulate the attic. We also noticed their attic was not air seal.  Insulating without air sealing does not stop air flow.  Air will continue to escape filtering through the attic insulation.  We recommended air sealing and installing blown cellulose insulation to fix their uncomfortable problem.

This homeowner is now happier, knowing they will be more comfortable in their home, all while saving on their utility bill.

Cellulose Blown Insulation in Annapolis MD

This homeowner contacted Complete Home Solutions, because they had contaminated insulation from pests/rodents.  They were also experiencing extreme temperature variations between their upstairs and downstairs levels in their home.    When we arrived, we found the attic was insulated with loose fiberglass insulation which was contaminated by debris, particulate matter, and mouse feces.  So not only was this homeowner uncomfortable, since the attic was not properly air sealed, they were also breathing the unhealthy air that was coming down into the house from their contaminated attic insulation. Often loose fiberglass insulation has voids or gaps between that allow your insulation to lose it's effectiveness or R-value.   Loose fiberglass inuslation alos creates a warm habitat for rodent infestation and unwanted critters. Cellulose insulation provides a more natural insulation barrier and is treated to deter unwanted pests infestation.  We removed the loose, contaminated insulation, air sealed to the attic area to stop the air flow and installed a fresh blanket of blown cellulose insulation to ensure the heated and cooled air from inside stayed in!

The homeowner is now much happier,  healthier and more comfortable!

Attic Insulation in Annapolis, MD

This homeowner in Annapolis, MD called Complete Home Solutions following another summer of warmer than normal temperatures in the second floor of her home. Following a visit from one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist, it was determined that the condition of the homes attic were the main culprits of the uncomfortable temperatures in the second floor of the home.  On the day of the job our Home Comfort Technicians took all the step needed to transform this attic into a well insulated and efficient area of the home. They began by removing the old bat insulation from the attic , this was followed by air sealing any cracks or seams in the floor of the attic that was allowing air to travel between levels of the home. the next step was to cover all of the recessed lights, recessed light are a big area of concern when looking at air leakage in your attic. Our technicians then installed baffles in the eaves of the home, the baffles allow outside air to enter the attic, however they begin the proper ventilation process, rather than letting in stagnant air. The final step is to blow in 16 inches of new Cellulose insulation. The Cellulose provides a dense layer of insulation that helps trap the conditioned air where it belongs, in your home.
