Spray Foam insulation in Deale, MD

Jim called Complete Home Solutions to address the humidity and comfort issues in his one-story Deale, MD home. Along with a full crawl space encapsulation, our Home Comfort Specialist also recommended applying our 2 part closed cell spray foam to the exposed floor joist underneath an addition to the home. Applying this spray foam will create a solid barrier that will restrict air from making its way into the home through any seams or cracks in the wood or allowing external temperatures to affect the floor above directly. On installation day our Home Comfort Technicians removed all of the old insulation that had been damaged due to humidity issues before applying the new spray foam. Jim noticed an immediate difference in the temperature of his floors and cant wait to see the difference it will make in the humid summer months.

Attic Insulation in Deale, MD

After moving into her home in Deale, MD last year, Karen had a Home Energy Audit conducted by Complete Home Solutions to determine how energy efficient the house was. Following the Audit, our Home Comfort Specialist found several areas of the home that could be enhanced to improve home efficiency and home comfort.  Carrie followed all of the recommendations and began to chip away at each project. Our crew began by first fully encapsulating her crawl space. They then installed a new mini-split HVAC system, and the final improvement was to properly air seal and insulate the attic. As you can see above the attic had old fiberglass batt insulation that was well below current standards to keep the home properly insulated. To fix the comfort issues our crew began by pulling back the old insulation and air sealing any recessed light covers, top plates, and cracks in the drywall then blew in a fresh layer of cellulose insulation to give this home a proper 16 inches of insulation. By air sealing it prevents any conditioned air from escaping the living space of your home, and adding insulation creates a 16in barrier between the attic temperature and the rest of your home.

Karen's home has now been properly insulated and sealed from top to bottom. These steps will help keep her home comfortable all year round, and also help her HVAC system run less, saving money on monthly utility bills.

New Blown in Insulation in Mechanicsville, MD

This home's owner in Mechanicsville, Maryland made the right decision when they decided to talk to Complete Home Solutions. They knew that they already had some insulation in their attic, but didn't know how old it was. All they knew was that their home was awfully cold for having had any insulation.

After conducting our Home Energy Audit, we were able to explain to the homeowner how insulation often times isn't enough if it's by itself. What we mean is that you need to have your attic properly air sealed in order for the insulation to be effective. As you can see, the insulation that they had up there before (which wasn't nearly enough) had discolored spots, indicating that a lot of air was escaping through. So, we took out the old insulation, air sealed the attic, and installed our blown cellulose insulation. The homeowner is already noticing how much more comfortable she is in her home! We love getting the job done right!

Attic Air Sealing in Mechanicsville, MD

This homeowner had some weatherization work done in their attic a few years ago, but the work wasn't carried out to its fullest potential. They had their ducts covered up (which is good) and part of the attic ceiling, but that isn't going to make this house as energy efficient as it could be. We went ahead and finished air sealing (mainly by applying polysio foam board) and blew in cellulose insulation. Now we can confidently say that this attic is efficient and will provide for a much more comfortable home.

New Insulation in Mechanicsville, MD

Discolored insulation like you see in this picture is a sign of poor energy efficiency in a home. Air is not being stopped from leaking through the attic and is filtering right through, all year long. This costs the homeowner in terms of utility bills, comfort, and health. How did we fix this? We had to take out that old, dirty insulation, air seal the attic, and blow in some nice and dense cellulose insulation. This creates a great thermal barrier for the home and will ultimately make it much more comfortable and affordable!
