This attic was poorly insulated with fiberglass. In the photos you can see how dirty it is. That is because it is not stopping the flow of air through it, it's just filtering the air before it goes outside. We removed all of the fiberglass and replaced it with open blown Tru-Soft Insulation. We also did air sealing measures prior to putting the Tru-Soft Insulation in because that will reduce the air flow into the attic drastically.
Windows are a tricky subject. Most people believe that upgrading their windows will solve all of their problems regarding heat loss in the winter time. Unfortunately this is not true. While upgrading your windows may or may not improve your comfort, insulation will drastically change your home. Drafty rooms will no longer be drafty. Cold floors will no longer be cold. This makes for a much more comfortable home year round and a happy customer.
Basements are naturally moist and gross. Most people don't even like doing anything down there and they leave it untouched if not only to use it for a laundry room / storage space. This basement had some previous moisture issues and once those were taken care of, we were able to properly insulate the basement walls making the entire home more comfortable and energy efficient.
