Our client, residing in Sainte-Therese, contacted us due to concerns in their attic. Despite the recent installation of fiberglass insulation, they were still experiencing the same negative effects.
Our specialist visited to inspect the attic and immediately noticed excess moisture. Additionally, mold was observed on the ceiling. The specialist explained that simply installing insulation throughout the attic is not enough. Air sealing is a crucial step that should not be overlooked. Moreover, the amount of insulation installed should achieve an R-value of R60.
Problem
Our client, a resident of Blainville, contacted us to inspect his attic. Despite having recently done the insulation, he still feels that the attic is humid. Additionally, the air drafts within the house has not completely disappeared. During her detailed inspection, our specialist, Fanny, pointed out the importance of adhering to the recommended amount of insulation to achieve the appropriate thermal value. The suggested value for most regions in Quebec is R60. However, the existing insulation provides only a value of R30.
Solution
We removed the existing insulation to ensure there is no air leakage underneath. Subsequently, we blew in our excellent cellulose insulation to achieve the thermal value of R60. It is important to note that our insulation is fire-resistant, mold-resistant, and eco-friendly.
Mr. Leduc contacted Systèmes Éconergie because he wanted to re-insulate his attic. He did well because his attic was very poorly insulated. In some places there were only 5 in’’ of fiberglass!
We removed the old insulation, sealed all air leaks, insulated the access hatch and blew 16” of cellulose fiber to achieve an R-60 value.
The problem
The lack and the poor insulation of Mr. Robinson's attic made the rooms in his house very uncomfortable. He also noticed that the energy costs were getting higher, way more than the previous years. He therefore contacted Systèmes Éconergie for a free estimate.
The solution
Our team of experts removed the old insulation to seal all air leaks on the floor such as the joints between the boards. They insulated the access hatch and blew 16” of cellulose fibers to have an R-60 value.
With this solution, Mr. Robinson will be able to regain the comfort of his home and will have less energy costs.
The problem :
The client wanted to change her attic insulation because it was old and it wasn't insulated properly. And when we were doing our inspection, we found many cracks that leaked air from the attic.
The solution :
With the help of our certified attic insulation specialist, we established a plan and found a solution for the client's needs.
We started by removing all the old isolation. We then fixed all the cracks with our Zyp foam in order to air seal which is imperative to do before any insulation work. We then insulated all the attic with our cellulose fiber to get an R60 insulation value.
Now, this client has a better isolated attic with a much higher energy efficiency, which will help them save money and enjoy a more comfortable home.
