Spray Foam Log Cabin

Spray Foam on the roof deck of a Log Cabin in Harpers Ferry WVA

Harpers Ferry HVAC Duct Encapsulation with Spray Foam

HVAC ducts likes this one in the attic of this Harpers Ferry WV are designed to deliver conditioned air (heated or cooled) from the HVAC system into the rooms of the home below.  In the summer attic temperatures and reach up to 120 degrees or higher and in the winter attic temperatures can fall well below freezing.  That means the conditioned air could be travelling through a duct that is either baking in the heat or has been sitting in freezing cold temperatures as if it were outside.  These harsh conditions can work against the efforts of the HVAC system and result in the conditioned air being less cool or hot than it needs to be to make the rooms of the home comfortable.  It also causes the HVAC system to run more than it should, running up energy bills.  Encapsulating the ducts in spray foam helps insulate them from being impacted by external temperatures.

Harpers Ferry WVA Spray Foam Insulation

This Harpers Ferry WVA home has an enclosed room/deck area that was too cold in the winters and too hot in the summers.  The homeowners called to see if we could help make it more comfortable.  After performing a Home Performance Inspection, our Sales Pro Jonathan was able to identify a need for better insulation below the room.  The existing batt, rolled insulation was falling loose from the flooring and had gaps where the hot and cold air from outside was able to move into the floor above. Jonathan recommended the use of spray foam to air seal and insulate the spaces between the frame for the deck/floor.  This will keep the space more comfortable and reduce the energy cost to heat or cool the room.

Cold Rooms-Rixeyville, VA

This Rixeyville, VA homeowner was complaining about a cold room on the upper level of their home. After a full comfort evaluation provided for FREE by Comfenergy we found an attic that was adjacent to this room. The wall adjacent to this attic was merely insulated with fiberglass batts.  The problem with this is that fiberglass does NOT stop air from travelling around and through it.  This is why your furnace filter is made of fiberglass. It allows the air through, but not the dust and dirt.

Comfenergy solved this issue by using 2" thick EPS SilverGlo foam boards to secure on this wall to provide a good air barrier and an additional R10 thermal insulation value.

Now this room is toasty warm and can be used in cold winter months!!!

Cold Basement-Marshall, VA
