This homes attic had old insulation, open access air vents and an attic fan. This all added up to a lack of control over the space and temperature fluctuations that impacted the comfort for the homeowners in the living spaces below. We air sealed the attic with ZypFoam, sealed up the vents and fan and used SilverGlo insulation panels to cover many of the walls and other needed spaces in the attic. This will help control the space and reduce the loss of conditioned air from the living spaces below. Increased comfort and lower bills will be other nice results.
This home was leaking conditioned air from the HVAC system into the attic, causing the temperatures in the living areas of the home to be uncomfortable. We cleared out all of the old insulation, air sealed the ceiling, and put in TruSoft Cellulose insulation to keep the attic functioning the way it was intended. In addition to the improvement in insulation, the material used will help to reduce and deter the presence of rodents in the attic.
As a contractor who specializes in insulation services, we often come across older homes that have not had their attic inspected in years if not decades. Over time insulation can settle or shift and become less effective or not effective at all. Our Home Performance Sales Pros are able to identify when this has happened and develop projects and solutions to fix it. This Lovettsville VA attic had years of settled insulation and dust, barely covering the surface of the attic in some spots. Our production team built up damning walls to hold a higher R Value of insulation and keep it from shifting over the years to come. Tru Soft blown cellulose insulation will last in this attic for years to come.
This home in Warrenton VA needed to have its attic better insulated. The home was uncomfortable on the top floors and the homeowner was paying higher energy costs than they should have. A Comfenergy Production Team came out to the home and removed all the existing insulation, used Zyp Foam to air seal the space and the blew in Tru Soft Cellulose Insulation. Tru Soft is fire safe, non harmful to humans and is treated with a compound that makes mice or other rodents want to leave the area it is in. This home is now better prepared to hold in the conditioned air created by the HVAC system and will cost less money to heat or cool.
These clients were interested in improving the overall efficiency of their home. They had uneven temperatures from room to room and poor airflow through the house. Don Calnen performed a home inspection and identified the need for improved insulation and air sealing in the attic. We removed the old insulation, installed several can light covers and then air sealed with ZypFoam. The knee walls in the attic were fitted with foam boards to seal and insulate before the rest of the attic was filled with TruSoft blown cellulose insulation.
