Amy called Complete Home Solutions to re-insulate the attic of her home, which had previously experienced water damage. During the measurements by one of our Home Comfort Specialist, it was also recommended to air seal the attic for better comfort and efficiency throughout the home. Our recommendation is normally Blown in Cellulose insulation, however, in this home, our crew installed multiple new layers of rolled batt.

This homeowner in Indian Head, Maryland noticed that his floors were always so cold in the winter, especially in the kitchen area. On top of that, his utility bills got astronomical. He found out about Complete Home Solutions and knew he had to call us.
We found that the crawl space was the main culprit. To fix the homeowner’s problems, we removed the old insulation that was in the crawl space ceiling (it was damaged), sealed the vents and ceiling with spray foam, and installed a vapor barrier along the floor. Now, the homeowner is living in a nice and comfortable house.
This homeowner had two attics in her home. Neither of them were air sealed or properly insulated. The one pictured above had been constructed with the intention of using it as a storage area, but the owner wasn't really getting much use out of it. Instead, they had a big open space that was wasting a lot of energy and causing a lot of discomfort throughout the house.
We went through and air sealed both attic areas (using mainly caulk and polysio foam board) to stop air from leaking in and out of the house. We then blew in closed cell cellulose insulation (bringing both attic up to 14" -- the recommended standard for our climate zone). This home has become much more comfortable since CHS came out.
This homeowner had noticed that there was a noticeable temperature difference between the first and 2nd story of their home during the cooler and warmer seasons. Following a call to one of our trained Home Comfort Specialist he was able to determine a major issue with their uncomfortable 2nd floor was the gaps and lack of insulation in their attic. On install day our Home Comfort Technicians began by air sealing the gaps allowing the cooler air to escape followed by blowing in fresh cellulose insulation into the attic. This homeowner noticed an immediate difference and is now comfortable in every corner of their home.

After hearing about the BGE Home Energy Audit program, Arthur called Complete Home Solutions to give his home a full evaluation. After looking over the whole house including several key systems, our Home Comfort Specialist recommended air sealing the attic and making sure the insulation was up to code. On the day of the job, our Home Comfort Technicians began air sealing the attic with fire block spray foam. The spray foam is applied to our recessed light covers, top plates, and any outlets in the attic to ensure that the air you pay to heat or cool stays in the living space of your home. The next step in this attic was to vent the bath fans out through the roof. If your fans are not vented properly, it can create moisture issues in your attic. The final step of this attic project was to blow in new Cellulose insulation, which creates a 16 inch barrier between the attic condition and the rest of your home. As you can see in this picture, we install rulers throughout the attic to show our customers just how much of a difference our insulation makes. Nicholas noticed an immediate difference, even in mild temperatures, and can't wait to see how his house performs in the future.
