Hot Rooms Cured in Edgewater, MD

These homeowners had a really big problem in the summer...their upstairs got HOT...and their bedroom was upstairs. They suffered through constant restless nights all throughout the summer. They met up with one of our home comfort specialist to diagnose their problem.

The problem behind their discomfort? The attic! No air sealing and minimal insulation. All of that hot air that had been building up in the attic was leaking out into the living space. To stop this from happening, we need to create a thermal barrier in the attic. This meant that we had to air seal the rim and band joists (along with any other attic penetrations), air seal the attic hatch, remove the old insulation that was discolored and ineffective, and blow in our cellulose insulation. Now these homeowners can sleep at night with no problem!

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Edgewater, MD

This homeowner called Complete Home Solutions after noticing that his one story home was getting harder to keep comfortable during the hottest points of the summer and colder points of winter. Following a inspection from one of our Home Comfort Specialist it was determined that the root cause of his issues was the crawl space. This crawl had open vents, a messy vapor barrier, and very little insulation. Our Specialist recommended a Crawl Space encapsulation to fix this issue, and our Home Comfort Technicians took care of the rest. On the day of the job our technicians began by removing the old vapor barrier from the ground of the crawl. They then put down a new CleanSpace vapor barrier that would prevent any ground moisture and humidity from entering the home from the ground. Our Technicians also take the extra step of bolting the vapor barrier to the wall to ensure that no moisture or unwarted pest can find its way in. The next step was to spray foam the walls and all of the open vents. this full seals in the crawl space from the outside elements while also insulating the crawl space. the final step was installing a dehumidifier to that keep the humidity at at perfect range of 50-55%. The Homeowner immediately noticed a difference in the temperature of the home and is resting comfortably.
