This home had a detached garage that connected to the upstairs dwellins. These types of garage attics tend to be unconditioned spaces with improper insulation. The unconditioned spaces are often unsealed so they allow large quantities of air to leak out of the house, meaning all that cold air your A/C Unit is producing is just leaking out of your home.   Our Production Crews worked in the attic and air sealed all the top plates and knee walls to stop air from leaking out of the garage attic.  Once the area was air sealed our crews blew in Cellulose Insulation to insulate the area to stop air from leaking out of the house from the living areas into the garage!

The attic is now providing a better thermal barrier between conditioned interior space and unconditioned garage and providing a much more comfortable living space for the occupants!

Our homeowners here knew that they had a problem. They had a room that was always cold and electric bills that were way too high. They also knew that they had pretty low insulation levels in their attic and they figured out the link between that and their problem. The next step was to get a solution. 

Complete Home Solutions was able provide this solution. Insulation wasn't the only the only thing that this attic was lacking - it was also missing very important air sealing (which means that a lot of air was leaking through open cavities in the attic). The skylight was a huge source of air leakage also, so we replaced the old deteriorating insulation with 3 inches of spray foam (an air sealant and insulator). We then added in blown in cellulose insulation in order to bring the insulation levels up to R-49. 

The room that was a real problem child for these homeowners became a complete comfort zone. Another house made more comfortable by CHS!  

This homeowner in Waldorf, MD recently became a member of our Complete Comfort Club, our HVAC preventative maintenance plan. One part of the membership is a no cost tune-up to your heating system. During the tune-up one of our trained HVAC Technicians discovered a problems with the motor of the system, his recommendation given its age was to replace the system. Our Install crew was able to take care of the rest, by replacing this outdated Goodman system with a brand new Amana System inside and out. Following the install, the homeowners noticed that their system was not running as frequently as before and they were more comfortable throughout their home.

Leonard called Complete Home Solutions with concerns about the colder temperatures in the 2nd floor bedrooms of his Waldorf, MD home. Our Home Comfort Specialist conducted a full energy audit to determine not only what was causing their uncomfortable temperatures, but any other efficiency improvements that could be made to money on their monthly utility bill. One big factor in the colder 2nd floor temperatures was the lack of insulation in the attic of the home. With older cellulose insulation that was not high enough to cover the floor joist, it allowed the colder winter air in the attic to make its way into the home. 

On the day of the installation, our Home Comfort Technicians air sealed any cracks that could be allowing air to move between the attic and the rest of the home before laying down a new layer of blown in cellulose. This process traps the cold air in the attic and traps the warmer air where it belongs, in your home. 

Leonard is now resting in comfort and has noticed a drop in their monthly utility bill from this project along with other small improvements our Specialist recommended during the Energy Audit.
